Loved My Antonia though I read it ages ago.
H.L. Mencken called My Antonia the best work of fiction by an American woman ever. I always wondered if the gender distinction in his praise revealed Mencken’s adoration or perhaps his competitive fear of her amazing skill as a writer.
It’s been ages since I read “My Antonia.” I’ve been wanting to dip in again. Another I read long ago was “Death of the Archbishop,” also excellent.
